Co-Founder of Gross Shuman Passes

December 8, 1932 – April 11, 2012 Irving “Irv” M. Shuman, distinguished attorney, mentor, advocate for his clients, and co-founder of the firm Gross, Shuman, Brizdle and Gilfillan, PC, died in Sarasota, FL after a long illness. After graduating from UB Law School in 1954, Irv served his country in the U.S. Army until 1956. After returning from service, he began building his own law practice until he formed what would become a lifelong partnership with Gordon Gross. On September 3, 1960, Irv, along with Gordon Gross and Paul Gonson, formed the law firm of Gross, Gonson & Shuman. After Paul joined the SEC in 1961, the firm became Gross Shuman. The firm originally focused its practice areas in family businesses, business litigation, real estate development, and financing. In 1978, the firm merged with the Brizdle law firm and the name was changed to its present name, Gross Shuman Brizdle & Gilfillan, PC (GSBG). Many at GSBG say that Irv was a lawyer&rsqu...
Jury Backs Man Represented by Gross Shuman in Lawsuit

Gross Shuman attorneys Howard B. Cohen and Harry J. Forrest recently represented an accident victim who successfully sued his own insurance company under his supplemental uninsured/under-insured coverage for damages suffered in a 2008 car crash. A State Supreme Court jury decided New York Central Insurance Company should pay Dale Gretch, 57, a former steel worker, $500,000 for past pain and suffering and $300,000 for future pain and suffering. Attorney presents seminar for artists

Leslie Mark Greenbaum of the firm Gross, Shuman, Brizdle & Gilfillan, P.C. presented a program at the Burchfield Penney Arts Center on “Legal Rights of Artists” on March 15, 2012. The program for faculty and students at Buffalo State College was an invited lecture and part of the Margaret Eschner Bacon Endowment Speaker, Exhibition Series.

Attorney David H. Alexander of Gross Shuman Brizdle & Gilfillan P. C. presented a “Cross-Border Estate & Tax Planning Seminar” on February 18, 2012 in Ellicottville, NY. The seminar discussed tax and legal issues (including the U. S Estate Tax Laws) that significantly impact Canadians’ ownership of U.S. real estate. The seminar was held at the Wingate Hotel.
